Deryk Van Brunt, DrPH,
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Van Brunt is President and CEO of the Healthy Communities Institute. He teaches Health Informatics at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health, and conducts research in the area of community health information systems. Dr. Van Brunt has overseen the creation, development and evaluation of clinical and patient-centered information systems implemented in over 500 hospitals and healthcare institutions. He has authored articles and commentaries on health information management and communication technology and serves on several healthcare committees and advisory boards. Dr. Van Brunt received his MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and his DrPH in Health Informatics from the University of California at Berkeley.
Marcos Athanasoulis, DrPH,
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Athanasoulis is the Chief Technology Officer for the Healthy Communities Institute. Dr. Athanasoulis oversees all technical operations and product development for HCI. Formerly Director of Research Information Technology and Client Services for Harvard Medical School, Dr. Athanasoulis there led the development of high performance computing infrastructure to support biomedical and healthcare research. Dr. Athanasoulis has worked in both the public and private sector to improve quality and efficiency of healthcare and the environment through information systems. An acclaimed expert in health information technology, with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Athanasoulis holds an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a DrPH in Health Informatics from the University of California at Berkeley.
Florence Reinisch, MPH,
Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning
Florence Reinisch is Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning for the Healthy Communities Institute (HCI). Ms. Reinisch advises on strategic market and product development for HCI’s products and services. In addition, she serves as Senior Consultant for strategic consulting projects in the healthcare sector. In her founding, prior role as Vice President for Research and Client Services, Ms. Reinisch was responsible for all phases of client services and research to support website data content and the customer experience. She managed the implementations of the original pilot Healthy Communities Network platforms and led the operation through fast growth periods. Her work emphasizes strategic product development and relationships as the company has grown. Ms. Reinisch has over 15 years experience in public health research and policy development from her prior role as Director of Research for the California Department of Health Services, Division of Environmental and Occupational Disease Control. For the State Health Department, Ms. Reinisch conducted epidemiologic studies and regulatory standards on a wide range of occupational and environmental health topics, with an emphasis in the healthcare and construction sectors. Ms. Reinisch received her BA in government from Cornell University and her MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of California at Berkeley.
